We need to be exposed to certain amount of lights a day in order to stay healthy and in good mood. For those who always keep themselves in darkness, having very low exposure to lights will lead to develop depressions like winter blues and cabin fever.
Exposure to lights here doesn’t mean you need to be exposed to sunlights directly. You can simply point a lamp at your face, that will give you certain amount of lights. But, it’s definitely not a pleasant feeling for having to point a lamp on your own face as it simply blinds you from seeing other things for a moment.

Now, thanks to Philips, which they’ve just released a handy gadget, called the goLITE, which emits soft and pleasant blue lights that our body needs. Our body responds best to certain wavelengths of light. The goLITE simply emits the suitable wavelengths that our body needs. It uses optimal frequency blue LEDs to deliver the most positive effect on the body.
The light from the goLITE is actually not weak, but it is okay to human eyes, which gives little bit of visual imprint when you glance away from it. It’s certainly much better than having a lamp shining on your face that most likely blinds you for a short while. The light emitted by goLITE will give you the feeling like sunshine in winter.
The device is also equipped with a back lit touchscreen which can be used to adjust the light intensity, set timer or alarm clock, and it can be used as a desktop clock when it’s not used to shine the blue light. There is also a magnetic stand on the back that keeps this unit up on your desk.

Philips Prestigo is the kind of universal remote, which you could hardly imagine how sophisticated it is. The latest model, STR9320, which is yet to be released, is able to host up 300,000 devices in its memory, requiring only just a few tabs to program it to work with up to 20 devices.
This new Philips’ Prestigo universal remote allows you to group several devices in its “activity setting” function. You can assign individual buttons on the remote to control functions such as playback (DVD), sound (for home theater, TV etc.) and picture (for TV, projector, etc.). User can easily personalize their own configuration such as configuring an activity for “Listen to NPR” or “Watch Roku.”
And some more it’s intelligent enough to learn functions from AV equipments by simply pointing it at their original remote. So, you can then group other functions on other remotes onto this universal remote to control every AV equipment in your TV room.

The Philips Prestigo remote also allows you to create a list favorite channels with full-color icons for quick and direct access on its 2.8-inch touchscreen. Accessing and navigating functions and channels on the touchscreen is also fast and easy. This Philips’s Prestigo universal remote is rechargeable and can be hooked up to a computer via USB for adding more channel icons from a library that has thousands of them.
The little drawback of this remote is the virtual keyboard interface presented on the touchscreen needs at least two taps for each letter. But it should be tolerable as it needs only a few letters to find the right device. The Prestigo STR9320 remote is due to hit the market later this year but the price is still unknown.
