Gartner analysts also revealed that they expected the number of PCs in use to hit 2 billion by 2014, with a 12% annual increase, largely thanks to the surge in adoption rate in developing countries.

One of the greatest challenges that countries will also face in the future is figuring out how to safely dispose of unwanted computers. It is estimated that some 180 million computers, or about 16 percent of those in use globally will be retired. and up to 35 million will be “dumped into landfills with little to no regard for their toxic content”.

Its all well and good that you’re upgrading to the latest PC capable of playing Crysis, but do remember to dispose of your old PC more responsibly, k? Cos the Earth will love you for that.

Gmail Mail Goggles – No more drunken mail sprees

Posted by hina on under Accessories, Software | Comments are off for this article

The Gmail team has just added a novel feature to one of the world’s most popular online email platforms: mail goggles. The intention of this weirdly named feature? To add another layer of prevention against the accidental sending out of a poorly worded or poorly timed email.

Gmail Mail Goggles - No more drunken mail sprees

Gmail Goggles works by allowing you to specify a time when you are likely to be less alert and in control of yourself(etc drunken Friday/Saturday nights). Everytime you attempt to send an email during that time, Gmail will request that you answer a series of maths problems within a certain time limit before your mail is sent – Hopefully that helps to prevent another occurrence of the time you emailed your boss and presented an ultimatum – a raise or you quit.

Posted by hina on under Accessories, Software | Comments are off for this article

With the plethora of personal video and audio players available on the consumer market today one common question newbie users have is: What software to use in order to convert a video or audio file into one that can play on their device?

While there are all-in-one players that exist, the fact remains that most video players on the market today such as the Apple Ipod Video are unable to play videos encoded with popular codecs such as the XVID codec. Conversion needs to be done in order to convert the original video into the .mp4 file that will play on the Ipod Video. Enter Blaze Media Pro, an all-in-one multimedia suite or a software package containing utilities such as an audio converter, video converter and a video editor.
