Sexy And Affordable - OLPC XO-2
OLPC is betting that new developments in hardware, software, display and processor technologies will lower the XO-2’s price tag to $75.

OLPC is going with the 1 watt power consumption target so XO-2 can be powered by a hand crank.

The XO-2 will feature dual-touch displaces for the e-book.

The whole idea is very refreshing. Taking a lesson from the previous XO model, XO-2 will be given a new outlook. Featuring two 16:9 touch-screens, one of which can be used as a touch-sensitive keyboard and the other as a display screen. Also, OLPC is set to market the new model XO-2 to developing nations as an e-book reader.

Overall, OLPC XO-2 looks great compared to its pre-descendent which is bulky and heavy. However, the pretty promises to deliver by 2010 seem too soon and good to be true.

MBRWizard – Backup and restore your MBR

Posted by hina on under Accessories, Software | Comments are off for this article

If you’re anything like me you probably love experimenting with your computer a lot. And if you’re anything like me you’ve probably messed up your master boot record more than a couple of times while trying to dual boot OSx86 on your computer or something. The last time that happened to me it took a couple hours of failed boots, Windows repairs and grinding of teeth before I managed to fix up the corrupted MBR of my hard disk.
Thats why I should probably have backed up my MBR before I started. Of course if you haven’t even heard of an MBR before you started reading this article this tool is probably not for you, but its always good to know what to do in the event that your computer freeze and simply refuses to boot to Windows.
MBRWizard - Backup and restore your MBR
MBRWizard is a tool that allows you to backup your master boot record, the sector of your hard disk that stores information on how to boot up, and incidentally the area of your hard disc most prone to editing by partition tools and boot managers and thus the most susceptible to corruption. Once done you can copy the backed up MBR into a removable drive or the like so that you can easily restore your MBR if anything goes wrong while your grubby hands are fooling around with more dual booting.

The two images above are maps of the Internet, specifically the “routers” – equipment that passes data to its intended destination – and the paths between them. Think of it as the Internet’s highways and exit ramps. The maps were made by Lumeta, a tech-security company. The map on the left was made 10 years ago, and shows about 88,000 routers. The one on the right was made a couple of months ago. This time Lumeta mapped over 450,000 routers.
